What is a Tweel food?

A tuile (pronounced ‘tweel’) is a delicate wafer cookie with a satisfyingly crisp texture resulting from the high sugar and fat content of the batter. The cookie’s name comes from the French word for tile, as the traditional tuile shape is reminiscent of the curved roof tiles used on provincial French homes. Tuiles (pronounced tweels) are super thin wafer cookies that can be shaped or molded while hot before hardening into their final shape. They have a distinctive crunch before the smaller pieces dissolve in your mouth. You need to shape your tuiles while they are still hot, so it’s important to bake and form the cookies in small batches of about six cookies. This will ensure that your fresh-from-the-oven tuiles will stay warm long enough for you to shape them.

What is a Tweel?

MICHELIN X® TWEEL™ is a complete, single piece, wheel and airless radial tire fitted assembly. The key components of this innovative solution are: Shear Beam with a tread optimized for long wear life. The Tweel Airless Radial Tire is a top loaded tire meaning that it performs similar to a bicycle tire or a suspension bridge. The spokes disburse the forces all the way around the tire radially much the same way air does in an air-filled tire.Better Traction & Easier on Turf The MICHELIN X TWEEL sits flat with equal ground pressure edge to edge, where as conventional tires apply more pressure in the center of the tire. The Tweel provides noticeably better stability on side hills and in wet soggy conditions. The Tweel (a portmanteau of tire and wheel) is an airless tire design developed by the French tire company Michelin.Because the spokes are able to flex when encountering bumps, the Tweels are able to absorb more of the shock and disturb the operator less. Sidehills are no match for the Tweel, as they even offer excellent lateral stability when compared to a traditional wheel.

What are the benefits of tweels?

Better ride than pneumatics. Lower rolling resistance over rough surfaces. Improved traction. Better battery life / fuel economy. If your vehicle is Tweel compatible, the potential advantages of a Tweel over a pneumatic tire may include: Pneumatic radial tire-like behavior. Lower & more uniform contact pressure. More gentle on turf than pneumatics.Unlike pneumatic tires, Tweels require no air and can conform to all types of terrain, making for a much smoother ride.

Do tweels wear out?

The service life of a Tweel varies dramatically by application from turf to construction. On average small Turf Tweels are lasting 2-3 times longer than their pneumatic counterparts. For SSL Tweels, the life of the Tweel varies based upon the underfoot condtions. Contact your local Michelin dealer for more information. Michelin, the manufacturer of Tweel tyres, states that their industrial grade Tweel products have a lifespan of at least 4,000 hours and they also have a 6-year limited warranty.Currently, the TWEEL SSL is the only TWEEL capable of retreading. Retreadability will vary with usage history. While we have seen examples of TWEELS being retreaded successfully up to 5 times, Michelin’s warranty on a TWEEL retread is only for the first retread.
