What is a nitro tire?
Nitrogen tires are simply tires that are filled with nitrogen gas instead of the regular compressed air. While regular air is made up of roughly 78% nitrogen, nitrogen-filled tires contain up to 93-99% nitrogen, with the remainder being small amounts of oxygen and other gases. To achieve the benefits of nitrogen, the concentration has to be at or higher than 93%. To do this, tires must be purged multiple times. If you have nitrogen-filled tires and need to refill them but there is none available, it’s perfectly safe to fill them with regular compressed air.
What are drag tires called?
Drag slicks are racing tires which offer uncompromised traction. As the name implies, slicks have no tread so as to maximize the contact of the tire. Like the D. O. T. Drag slicks are the most common type of tire used in drag racing. They are made of soft rubber and have no tread, providing maximum surface area and grip. Bias-ply slicks are more flexible and can conform to the surface of the track better than drag radials.Compared to standard radial tires, drag radials have shallow tread depths that increase traction on the road surface of a drag strip.
