Can you still buy white wall tires?
The aesthetic of modern cars doesn’t work well with whitewall tires (in most opinions), however they are still readily available for classic and vintage cars and trucks wanting that authentic look. There are two tire manufacturers that offer (and are well known for) whitewall tires, Coker and Vogue Tyres. Whitewall tires are more expensive due to their specialized manufacturing process, which involves custom molds, specific materials, and labor-intensive assembly. The low production volume and high rejection rates for visual imperfections also contribute to their higher cost.
Why are white wall tires no longer used?
Originally, whitewall tires were a symbol of luxury and style. They added a distinctive esthetic to vehicles, particularly in the 1930s to 1960s. However, they didn’t offer significant performance advantages over black tires and eventually became less practical. Also included in the Goodyear product line is a series of whitewall tires, and various raised white letter and yellow letter tires from the ’80s and beyond. The Goodyear Collector Series OF tires has over 80 designs spanning the 1920s to early 2000’s.

How to keep whitewall tires white?
Make sure the tires are cool to the touch, and then give them a pre-rinse with clean water. Spray the whitewall with your cleaner. We like to use our Rubber & White Wall Cleaner. It helps break down tough brake dust & road grime, while whitening even the dullest whitewalls. In order to accentuate the white area on your whitewall tires, you can use baking soda. Sprinkle baking soda onto a damp cloth or sponge. Wipe the surface of your whitewall tires in small, circular motions. Rinse the tires clean.
