Are Evos good in the snow?
I’ve ran my Evo one winter in northern Illinois with the Continental Extreme Contact DSW06 +. In light snow it was fine when it started getting thicker snow it was sliding here and there, but when it came to icy roads there was little to no traction. I’d say if you want to be safe just get a set of snow tires. While it’s not recommended, the only time this could work is on rear-wheel-drive only vehicles. Even in these cases, we still recommend four matching snow tires for optimal performance. Anything else, including 4x4s, front-wheel drive, and all-wheel drive vehicles should have a full set of snow tires for best traction.Four dedicated winter tires are essential for safe driving in winter conditions because they provide consistent traction and control on all four wheels. While AWD helps with acceleration, it does not improve braking or cornering.All-weather tires make it possible. While they do give you better traction in the snow and ice than all-seasons, they do not perform as well in the winter as a set of snow tires, nor do they handle as well as a set of all-season tires on wet and dry roads.
